Slow Cooker Jumbo Meatballs

EASY slow cooker meatballs are a win for any day of the week! As a busy family, our lives are constantly on the go, and it can be difficult to keep up with the hustle and bustle. That’s why I’m always looking for easy, fast meals that won’t take too long but will still provide us with healthy options. I like using my crockpot to make meals that require minimal effort from me but still taste great. One of our favorite recipes is jumbo meatballs – they’re fun for the kids and don’t take a lot of time to make! I try to find ingredients with fewer preservatives and added sugars, so I generally opt for grass-fed beef or organic spices to ensure the meal is as nutritious as possible. The beauty of this recipe is that you can quickly assemble the meatballs because they are jumbo size instead of rolling several small meatballs. You can also freeze them and pull them out when needed! Whenever we want something hot and filling without spending hours in the kitchen preparing it, we turn to this easy comfort food meal without fail!

How long does it take to cook fully cooked meatballs in the crockpot?

Since the meatballs are jumbo, I suggest cooking them low and slow for 8 hours for the most tender meatballs. They can still come out amazing at high for 4 hours.

Can you put frozen meatballs in the crockpot?

YES! You can add them frozen and put the setting at low for 8 hours.

Do meatballs get more tender the longer they cook in sauce?

As suggested, I always like to cook meatballs low and slow. Overcooked meatballs come out dry and tough. Also, cooking them slower turns the sauce into a delicious meat sauce!

Slow Cooker Jumbo Meatballs

Description

These giant slow cooker meatballs are a fun way to change up your favorite spaghetti and marinara sauce dinner. The whimsically large meatballs cook low and slow in the rich flavors of tomato sauce, creating an elegant yet hearty meal you can enjoy with friends or family any night!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesen cheese
  • 1 cup gluten free rolled oats- ground very fine in a food processor
  • 1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley
  • Hunters Pasta Sauce (click for recipe)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients into a large bowl.
  2. Roll into 6 oz meatballs (large size meatballs).
  3. Add the Hunters Pasta Sauce to a crock pot.
  4. Add the meatballs gently to the crock pot, pushing them down lightly until all the meatballs are covered with sauce.
  5. Cook on low for 8 hours

Notes

  • If you don’t have time to make the Hunters Pasta Sauce, you can add two 24 oz jars of sugar-free, all-natural sauce. I like to use Rao’s brand.
  • You can add an extra jar to make extra sauce. Once done cooking, the sauce turns into a yummy meat sauce that you can save for later, or freeze

To make this recipe dairy-free, use dairy-free ricotta and parmesan cheese.

To make this recipe candida-friendly, use 93% lean ground turkey, omit the oats, and use dairy-free ricotta and parmesan cheese.
